Leadership and Personal Growth

IFC-Council

INTERFRATERNITY COUNCIL (2013-2015)

(2014-2015) President:

During my 4th year at Cal Poly I served as the President. In this role I created online communication systems, organized transparent leadership between members and faculty, and established goals for 10 officers with checkmarks and accountability methods. Additionally I helped quell a nationally reported news story and organize a research report and prevention method for sexual assault on our campus, drastically increasing awareness and nearly nullifying sexual assault occurence on campus among fraternities.Additionally I chaired the executive council and organized two weekly meetings for fraternity presidents and the IFC.

(2013-2014) Public Relations:

During my year as the Public Relations officer for Cal Poly I managed the social presence of male greek life at Cal Poly. This position required me to work very hard to communicate with all 18 chapters and create organizational infrastructure. Additionally I had to become trained in crisis management and starting/maintaining PR campaigns.

LAMBDA CHI ALPHA (2011-Current):

(2013-2014) Risk Manager - High Iota:

In 2013-2014 I had the privilege of serving as the Risk Management Officer for my fraternity and learned much about safety training and presentations, communication with outside entities, followup and event planning.

Fun Fact 1: Only two insurance companies in America will insure general social fraternities.

Fun Fact 2: Fraternities are as expensive to insure as a nuclear reactor.

CALIFORNIA STATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION

2014-2015 Lobby Corps Special Officer

CSSA is a representative association for the 450,000+ students in the California State University system. The board consists of each CSU's student body president as well as the executive statewide officer team. Between these two are special officers which carry out specific tasks such as Lobby Corps Special Officer.

I helped all 23 CSU campuses build, maintain, and improve their lobbying efforts. This included a range of responsibilities from visiting campuses and holding personal trainings, to planning and conducting regional trainings and organizing information on local legislators and tracking legislation. The position also included advocacy in our state capitol, and working with various other student leaders from UCSA, and SSCCC.

ASI-Student-Government

ASI STUDENT GOVERNMENT (2013-2015)

(2014-2015) College of Science and Math (COSAM) Board of Directors Representative and Chair of the Advocacy Committee

The Board of Directors serves as the official voting body for the students of the 6 different academic colleges of Cal Poly. Each college is given representation based on the size of the program. In total there are 24 representatives who provide oversight in ASI corporate activity. In addition to that, these students advocate for other students in a variety of other capacities in the campus community.

I was on the Cal Poly Board of Directors for the College of Science and Math and headed all Advocacy efforts throughout the year. Responsibilities and accomplishments included setting up meet and greets with city council, working with local city officials to improve student relations, and increasing student voter registration rates, setting up weekly meetings with my committee, and delegating tasks.

(2013-2014) Executive Cabinet:

In my third year of college I had the opportunity to serve on the executive cabinet of then-president Jason Colombini. This handpicked group of 10 students helped to achieve the goals of the ASI president during the 2013-2014 school year.

As a member I was able to help followup on a student survey to find what students wanted and work with various student groups and student leaders. From this position I committed myself to help students as much as I possibly could. By the end of this term I had helped plan and host a roundtable discussion about a student-led co-op on campus and presented this information in a final report to the interested administrators. As a member I had the opportunity to participate in many student government events and trainings to learn skills including public speaking, formal etiquette, social media presentation and much more.

The key benefit of this position was being able to work under such great student leaders that made up the leadership team. Being in such close proximity to dedicated student leaders helped shape my passion and stoke the fire for me to want to help students more and proceed to run for a CSSA position the following year.

From my volunteer work I have learned a great deal about patience, delayed gratification, and a passion to help others succeed at things they once found difficult.

I began stage acting in high school and have been singing for many years more. I began singing with my family at church and have developed a great love for the human voice and vocal performance.
